Home Office Makeover
Transforming my Guest Room into a functional Home Office
My second bedroom finally has some functionality!
As beautiful as this guest room was, recent life changes called for a revamp! I want to begin by saying I am so very blessed to have a career that allows me to work remotely at home. So to ensure my productivity, I needed to create an efficient work space. I also started my very own candle line ( The Scent Suite ) this year, and packing orders began to take over my living room. This new home office gives me the much needed space to get all of the things done!
Previously, my guest room consisted of all of my leftover furniture. Like most homes, there’s always one room that serves as a catch all. When I did not have guest over, this space occupied all of my junk! The bed is the same bed I had in my studio loft. I have donated it to a family member, so it is now living its 3rd life! The cedar chest was also brought over from my loft. Its a family heirloom that I cherish, but I had to pass it down to someone else in the family to make room for the revamp. The only function this room had was to provide sleep. The bed was so large (queen sized) that there was no room for a small desk or any other productivity.
I learned from living in a studio apartment that every inch of your home should serve a purpose. There is no use in wasted space just to have a pretty room. So, I created a plan! As I do with every makeover or revamp in my home, I created an e-design to help me see the vision. This also helps me to play around with different furniture pieces.
After several mock-ups, this was the final design. I played around with a few different daybeds, chairs, and desk options. My goal was not to change the style of the room, but to just increase the function. I kept all of the previous bedding, decor and wall art which saved me a ton of money. But enough of the small talk, lets get to what you’re really here for… the after pictures!
